Debuting at the Clockenflap, Hong Kong’s largest music event, OPM band Ben&Ben just added another achievement to their long list of feats.

A new month means a new milestone for the nine-piece folk pop band, Ben&Ben. After the success of their North American tour and being one of Spotify’s most streamed Filipino acts last year, the Kathang Isip and Pagtingin hitmakers add another achievement to their list being a part of Hong Kong’s biggest international music festival, Clockenflap 2023.
A COUPLE OF FIRSTS
After a four-year hiatus, Clockenflap, one of Asia’s premier outdoor music and arts festivals, returns with a jam-packed lineup that boasts of around a whopping 100 talents. And sitting among them is Ben&Ben, the only Pinoy act in the major musical event proudly representing OPM.
Just last weekend, the Awit Award-winning band graced the Harbourflap stage, Clockenflap’s main music platform, at Hong Kong’s fully packed Central Harbourfront. This marks a couple of firsts for Ben&Ben, because Clockenflap is not only their first international show this year, but also their first-ever international music festival show. In one of their tweets featuring their Clockenflap performance with an enthusiastic and energetic audience, Ben&Ben thanked their fans they call Liwanag for being the reason why they have achieved this feat.

The sold-out Clockenflap ran for three days from March 3-5, 2023 and were headlined by other big-name bands such as Arctic Monkeys, FKJ, Phoenix, The Cardigans, and Wu-Tang Clan. Apart from an eclectic mix of musical presentations, Clockenflap also featured a dazzling selection of street art, sonic explorations, and large-scale installations among other attractions. In 2019, Ben&Ben was supposed to debut at the Clockenflap stage with fellow Pinoy pop soloist Paul Pablo, but it was cancelled because of the heightening political situation.
Beyond the festival, Ben&Ben also got the chance to spend some fun time together at Hong Kong Disneyland, trying out some rides and even buying some Disney merch before their show at the Clockenflap this year. Plus, they were able to host a meet-and-greet with some of their Liwanag. “Such a great honor to be here,” writes the indie-folk act in an IG post where they’re sporting some coordinated pop-colored looks styled by Shaira Luna. “Bringing you with us, Liwanag.”
After their momentous turn at the Clockenflap, Ben&Ben will next treat their Filipino Liwanag to another exciting show in the Momentum Music Festival this April at the Filinvest City Events Grounds in Muntinlupa.
