Ian Pangilinan and Paolo Pangilinan, the newest ambassadors of Avignon Clinic, give us the scoop on self-care and how the viral online series changed their lives
To those who surprisingly still don’t know, Gaya sa Pelikula is a web series released on YouTube last 2020. Written by Juan Miguel Severo, the show starred up-and-coming showbiz actors Ian Pangilinan and Paolo Pangilinan who played two neighbors that eventually turned into something more. As the show rapidly gained a massive following, it came to no surprise that Ian and Paolo both feel that the most meaningful change in their lives relate to gaining a bigger responsibility to give justice to the characters they will be portraying in the future. When asked what their initial thoughts were after finding out they would be joining the project, Paolo even said, “This is such a big responsibility, and I have to do it the best way I can,” while Ian believed that he now received “a wonderful chance to create a beautiful character.”
Defying mainstream media through art and skin care
It’s undeniable that the thought of seeing two boys profess their attraction for each other on screen is still pretty taboo in our society. We have yet to cross the boundaries of what is popular and mainstream, which is why Ian aimed to break the stereotype of gay portrayal in Philippine television–even if the series was released online. To him, those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community have beautiful stories that deserve space in popular media.
The same goes for their skin care journeys. Joining the star-studded line-up of Avignon Clinic ambassadors, the two actors consider themselves very lucky that an esteemed beauty and dermatology clinic invited them to join the family. To Paolo, it was even a privilege that a team of expert doctors with state-of-the-art devices will help him take care of his skin because yes, men need to take care of their skin too.
The best of the best
With Avignon Clinic’s never-ending list of world-class treatments, Ian and Paolo chose the Clear + Brilliant, a fractional laser that’s great for minimizing pores, refining skin texture, and improving skin radiance; Skin Reset, a facial that combines the technologies of Silkpeel and Mesobiolift to exfoliate, hydrate, brighten, and tighten the skin; and Acne Light Facial that uses glycolic acid to treat acne and exfoliate the skin as their top three favorites. The reason behind this is because of their effectiveness and minimal down time. For two busy personalities, the best procedures that have the shortest down time is the way to go. Not only that, but these treatments also allow one’s skin to be more plump, hydrated, and radiant–ready for the cameras to start rolling.
