Ringing in the holidays with your favorite stars and some S-tier entertainment sounds like a fantastic time, and the ABS-CBN Christmas Special 2024 delivered exactly that. With several of the biggest names in the music, film, and television industry, Shine Kapamilya: The ABS-CBN Christmas Special 2024 brought all the fun, all while still reminding everyone of the true spirit of Christmas.
As they highlighted the causes they’re supporting, such as giving support and donations to victims of the recent typhoons, as well as put the spotlight on inspiring individuals who overcame the toughest battles, they brought plenty of love, joy, and hope in more ways than one. BIGGEST MUSICAL ACTS OF THE YEAR
BINI opened the show in a heartwarming way, performing Kapit Lang with sign language, joined by Kapamilya actresses including Iza Calzado, Jolina Magdangal, Kaila Estrada, and more before transitioning into their upbeat rendition of Joy to the World. They ended their opening number by bringing summer to the holiday season with Pantropiko as well as Salamin, Salamin.

Maki also took the stage to perform Dilaw, hyping everybody up and making it known that 2024 was truly his year.

From sharing the stage with Palagi singers TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan (a swoon-worthy couple themselves) to singing their version of All I Want For Christmas, making everybody feel the kilig, Kapamilya pairings and loveteams had their share of the spotlight.

Epic partnerships and collaborations marked the holiday event, with legends sharing the stage including Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, and Gary V. That Bamboo and Sarah Geronimo performance also lives rent free in our minds.
These collabs brought something new and something fun to the fore, including James Reid and Darren Espanto performing Randomantic to Kyle Echarri joining EZ Mills for a hyped performance of Panalo.

Imagine being serenaded by several of the hottest leading men in the industry. The entire Araneta Coliseum swooned as actors and performers came from all sides to sing a medley of loverboy-esque tracks like What Makes You Beautiful and Uptown Girl. From new gen leading men to well-known generational heartthrobs, this surprise was a real treat.

From Maja Salvador giving her all to her dance numbers to ASAP’s Dance Sirens proving why they’ve got that name, a dance battle between the stars (including P-pop group BGYO and High Street castmates Kyle Echarri, AC Bonifacio, and Gela Atayde), to an ultimate dance showdown, everybody at the special showed up and showed out. And they’ve got moves!
SUSPECT, SUSPECT…
To celebrate 15 years and promote upcoming MMFF entry And the Breadwinner Is…, noontime variety show It’s Showtime! held a segment unique to the Christmas Special. Vice Ganda portrayed an OFW coming back home to her family, and the usual Showtime shenanigans and bardagulans ensued. They played trending TikTok trend Suspect, Suspect, getting in some playful digs and making the entire arena laugh.
A GRAND FINALE
The ABS-CBN Christmas Special put the best of the industry front and center, from music legends to A-listers. So it was fitting that its grand finale was a star-studded musical affair that was basically the Avengers: Endgame of Christmas specials.
