September was a busy one, we’re NGL. What got us through was snacking and munching our way through it all, from filling dishes to light snacks. Nothing like a meal or a cold drink (which, FYI, are best enjoyed with good company) to power you through a tiring day. In this list of our September favorites, there’s food and snack faves for both the savory snacker and the sweet-toothed treat liker. Check our picks down below and try them out yourselves! You won’t regret it.

Odd Cafe Pasig’s Crabmeat Fried Rice – Maggie Batacan, Editor-in-Chief

While I don’t necessarily think this rice bowl tastes like crab per se, it is still very delicious. It’s warm, comforting, savory. The serving size is huge. It’s very hearty and doesn’t at all feel like a plant-based dish but it is! So extra points for that. Pair this with their Ortigas-exclusive Sassy Sapphire drink for a perfect lunch (and don’t forget to say hi to Hugo the cat).

Ramen Yushoken  – Raf Bautista, Managing Editor

I discovered this restaurant after a co-worker of mine brought me there for lunch one day, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Their ramen just hits the spot with its tasty and bold flavors that will have you slurping ‘till the last drop. The broth alone is *chef’s kiss*, but the added toppings, such as the grilled pork chashu, just take it to the next level. Japanese ramen is one of my favorite dishes, and I now have another ramen restaurant to add to my faves list.

Leclerc Celebration Truffés Caramel Biscuits – Nica Glorioso, Features Writer

This Canadian chocolate caramel biscuit was introduced to me as a pasalubong from my tita who went to Canada, and it’s become my favorite chocolate snack of all time. It’s soft, creamy, and sweet. It’s also perfect to use as part of a s’more!

Aegyo Cafe Strawberry Cloud Cake – Precy Tan, Copywriter

I’m usually not a fan of strawberries, but the Aegyo Cafe Strawberry Cloud Cake just looked so good on the display shelf that I had to try it. After the first bite alone, it’s safe to say that it didn’t disappoint. Best believe it was named cloud cake because of how it feels in your mouth. The strawberries used weren’t sour also which made it a must-try in my book.

Tiong Bahru’s Lemon Chicken – Jasmin Dasigan, Production Associate

I recently discovered about Tiong Bahru’s Lemon Chicken and it has been my favorite go-to dish. It has a perfect blend of sweetness, savory, and crunch that really satisfies my cravings! What’s good about how they prepare the dish is the way they separate the lemon sauce with the fried chicken which gives me the freedom to balance the taste to my own liking!

CLOUD Soft Treats | Frozen Yogurt – Gelo Quijencio, Multimedia Artist

It’s a delicious and refreshing treat that balances creaminess with lightness. The smooth, airy texture combined with a wide variety of flavors might make it a versatile dessert for different cravings. Frozen yogurt often has a slightly tangy taste, which adds a unique twist compared to regular ice cream.

Paper Plus Cup Strawberry Cheesecake Signature Milk – Janelle Lee Luna, Multimedia Intern

Paper Plus Cup is my go-to cafe after my class. Strawberry Cheesecake Signature Milk is my favorite drink because it perfectly combines the rich, creamy flavor of cheesecake with the refreshing sweetness of strawberries. Plus, I love the cafe’s cozy atmosphere with many paintings from different artists.

Best Of Luck – Cubao Expo and Shi Lin – Christine Roska, Marketing Intern

Best Of Luck – Cubao Expo is our favorite hangout spot in QC, and after discovering The Best of Luck, it quickly became our go-to restaurant. My personal favorite is the chili peanut noodles with fried siomai—a burst of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors. Pairing it with their affordable cocktails elevates the experience, and as a fan of the Amaretto Sour, I love its perfect balance of sweet and tangy notes. It’s absolutely worth every penny. The cozy, intimate ambiance, with nostalgic ’90s Hong Kong vibes, adds to the charm and keeps us coming back.

Shi Lin is hands down our favorite dim sum place in the south! I always look forward to weekends because it means enjoying xiaolongbaos with my family- our favorite bonding time. What makes it even better is that it’s more affordable than other dim sum spots, but the quality remains exceptional. My sister and I always find ourselves nodding in approval as we take our first bite—it’s simply that good.
