Filipino Eyekons really rolled out the red carpet for KATSEYE, and they deserve it.

In case you haven’t heard it yet, KATSEYE is on their way to being your next favorite girl group. It’s only been a few months since their official debut, but the group has already earned tens of millions of streams and made many fans (called Eyekons) around the world. So, with the group’s recent visit to the Philippines, which served as the second stop on their Asia tour, the hype for the girls was real.
KATSEYE’s first time in the country and the homecoming for member Sophia made for the perfect combination for a warm welcome. Pinoy Eyekons did that! As we cross our fingers for the group’s eventual return (this time for a concert, we hope), we’ve rounded up some of the most fun and chaotic af things KATSEYE experienced during their brief but memorable Manila stay.

That crowd though. Mind you, it was on a rainy weekday with heavy traffic yet Market! Market! was filled with hundreds of Eyekons who loudly cheered for the group like it was a concert at MOA Arena. KATSEYE deserved every second of the love they got and then some.
PERFORMING ON IT’S SHOWTIME
Who would have guessed the girls we were following on Dream Academy would perform on It’s Showtime one day? Seeing the group feel comfortable and get the full Showtime experience, including doing the Touch choreography with all the hosts and audience, felt correct.

How wholesome is it that the KATSEYE moms have a rule that at least one mom needs to be with the group in every country they go to? It’s so nice to see young artists still have that parental connection and guidance, especially those thrust into the global spotlight so early in their careers.

In true Filipino fashion, Sophia’s family welcomed KATSEYE and their team to the Philippines with a feast at their home. Simpleng handaan who? That’s a buffet right there that’s fit for the biggest of birthday parties.

Sophia cleaned up during Dream Academy and is one of the few Filipinas on the global pop scene, so her return to the Philippines was naturally an exciting affair. She was in her element as she got to perform for her kababayans, reunite with her family, speak Tagalog, and generally unleash her inner Pinoy.
