If you’re reading this, that means you survived the first full week of February, and honestly, that deserves a celebration. But whether you have plans or are just looking to chill at home, you’re gonna need a good soundtrack to accompany you as you begin February. With that being said, feast your ears on some of the best new songs of the past week. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, you may just add one of these tracks to that special playlist.

SPECIAL – LIZZO AND SZA

In case you didn’t know, Lizzo and SZA are besties with Lizzo even working on a few tracks for SZA’s SOS album. So, it’s no surprise that Lizzo decided to include SZA on the remix of this uplifting anthem. It’s a song that’s made even better thanks to SZA’s signature vocals. Now we wait for an original song from these two queens.

FIGHTING – BSS AND LEE YOUNG JI

DK, Seungkwan, and Hoshi really said it’s time to move with BSS’s long awaited comeback. Presenting themselves as a part of the listeners, their comeback looks to serve as a boost to the energy and persistence needed to achieve their respective goals. And what better way to do that than to team up with everyone’s favorite host and rapper Lee Young Ji with Fighting, a track that’s the perfect background music to kick-starting the day.

RUNNING OUT OF TIME – PARAMORE

Happy Paramore day to all those who celebrate! After years of waiting, we finally have a new album from the band and This Is Why is truly for the girls who are ready for a new chapter of the group.

PAANO? – ARTHUR MIGUEL

If you’re looking for a wholesome love song to add to your Valentine’s Day playlist, you may want to add this banger from Arthur Miguel. The midtempo song makes for an easy listen as Miguel lovingly reflects on how he fell in love with that special someone.

JUST BECAUSE – MRLD

mrld injected a heavy dose of wholesome with his new song, Just Because. It’s a joyous and light listen all about loving someone just because. No reason, just lovey dovey vibes.

WE GO DOWN TOGETHER – DOVE CAMERON AND KHALID

The melancholic melody and vocals is what really does it for us and Dove and Khalid set the temperature in this dark long song. If you’re going to go down, at least you’ll do it with your partner.

HAKBANG – I BELONG TO THE ZOO

Hakbang is this kind of harana any person would be lucky if it were sang to them. The heart feels in the right place with the band’s ode to how they will work to make sure that that special someone will always feel loved.

JPTOWN (PM) – YOUNG COCOA

Filipino rapper Young Cocoa is most known for his track Manila. But now, he’s reflecting on his time while living in Jakarta, Indonesia with his new song. The single maps a pivotal moment in his life where he embraced the joys and pains of living in a multicultural city, pursued his goals and dreams, and met people with diverse backgrounds. Cocoa effectively gets his message across, both in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

BORED? (HOPE YOU’RE HAPPY) – PAOLO SANDEJAS

And here we have a case of the music contrasting with its lyrics. Paolo Sandejas’ new song may sound wholesome, but it actually is his way to put an ex on blast and warn her to not get back with him when she’s bored. We think a lot can relate to this feeling.

DULO – VXON

Stepping away from their usual hard-hitting pop songs, VXON treats us to a vocal showcase with the touching Dulo. The mostly acoustic and stripped tune highlights the group’s voices as they sing about staying on until the end, a message fitting for today’s times.

BORDERLINE – TOVE LO

In the words of Megan Thee Stallion “TOVE LO! PERIOD!” Borderline is yet another pop banger from the musician as its bass and beat come together for a catchy number about never leaving that flame.

PROBLEM CHILD – 1ST.ONE

1st.One unleashes their inner bad boy with their latest comeback, Problem Child. This pop and hip-hip hybrid is the group at some of their most unapologetic as they continue to chart their own course in the industry.

OLD WITH YOU – GRENTPEREZ

Filipino-Australian grentperez is at it again with his wholesome love songs with Old With You. The track is all about retaining that youthful energy with the people you love as you get older, whether it be lovers, friends, or even family.

LATE NIGHT THOUGHTS – SHY MARTIN

shy martin is stuck in her thoughts with late night thoughts, a pop ditty that expresses the relatable sentiment of those late nights where you can’t sleep.

ANESTHETIZED – AYLEEN VALENTINE

While it’s a love song at its core, anesthetized is wrapped in a haunting piano melody and an evocative snare drum and eerie synths. With vocals that are deliberate but decisive, the song is one of the more unique love songs out there.

COME BACK HOME – OCEANFROMTHEBLUE AND YEEUN

K-R&B artist oceanfromtheblue recently dropped his self-titled first album and it’s filled with warm and introspective R&B tracks. Each song, like with Come Back Home, has the Korean artist open up the intimate details of his life including his current status and mindset towards life.

EVERYTHING IS RED – KOVEN WEI

Koven Wei’ latest track is an upbeat pop-rock/alt-rock song that describes everything that makes you red. As you can imagine, it makes for a chaotic song but in the best way possible.
