As much as Liza Soberano receives love and support, she also returns that to those who need it. Together with Enrique Gil and their fans, they helped raise a combined 500,000 pesos for Save the Children Philippines which was passed the initial goal of 350,000 pesos. The couple even held a virtual fan meet where proceeds went to the donation drive. The money raised was used to help families during the pandemic.

Liza doesn’t play when it comes to mental health. So, when she sees people making fun of it, she isn’t one to keep silent. Back in February 2021, Liza took to Twitter to call out the poster for the movie, Tililing. The poster showed the cast sticking their tongue out while making weird faces. Liza wasn’t here for the outdated depictions of mental health.
SHE HELPED FORM A COMPANY DEDICATED TO MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health is an important cause for Liza. It’s so important to her that she, along with fellow stars Nadine Lustre, Yassi Pressman, formed Mind You. The new company aims to provide Filipinos with easier and affordable access to mental health experts, as well as help destigmatize mental illness in the Philippines. Liza is actually currently studying for a degree in psychology and is hoping to use that to help people with mental health problems.

In case you didn’t know, the age of sexual consent in the country is 12 years old making the Philippines one of the countries with the lowest age for sexual consent. Many people called for the age to be raised and one of those people was Liza. As an ambassador to Save The Children Philippines, she shared a video on her social media pages imploring senators to pass the “End Child Rape” bill, which would increase the age of consent to 16 years old. The bill did pass in the Senate, but has yet to be signed into law.

One of Liza Soberano’s major advocacies is ending online child abuse and exploitation, especially now that it has been easier for predators to reach out to children digitally. Among other things, Liza quote tweeted a tweet from Senator Rise Hontiveros that showed screenshots of people selling child pornography on Facebook. She also invited her followers to join her in a seminar about online child abuse. There, she talked about the importance of her speaking up and how we can help end the abuse.
SHE TOOK A FIRM STANCE AGAINST THE RAPE COMMENTS MADE AGAINST HER
This all started when Liza tweeted that she was unhappy with her current service provider and decided to switch to a new one. While this alone caused a minor scandal, things took a turn for the worse when screenshots were shared of an employee of Liza’s former internet service provider commenting on Facebook rape jokes about the young star. While some people might have kept their heads down or addressed it in private, but Liza addressed it head-on. She filed a criminal complaint against the person who left the comment for the rape remark. One thing to know about Liza is that she never backs down.
