XG has never been one to tread lightly—and with the year they’ve had, they’re stomping all over the place, letting the world know they’re here, they’re realer than real, and they’re a force to be reckoned with.

In case you didn’t know, XG is a seven-member hip-hop and R&B-inspired group formed by XGALX consisting of JURIN, CHISA, HINATA, HARVEY, JURIA, MAYA, and COCONA. The group name “XG” represents “Xtraordinary Girls,” empowering people from various backgrounds worldwide through their boundary-breaking style of music and performance.

Known for singles like LEFT RIGHT and SHOOTING STAR, as well as their signature retro-futuristic, avant-garde, experimental style, and supported by a loyal fanbase of ALPHAZ, XG has made waves for setting trends, not following the rules, and doing things their way. Just by hearing their music and watching them perform their high-energy, it-girl anthems, you can’t help but feel empowered.

Whether it’s with their bold style, their unrelenting sound, or their penchant for the inventive and the eccentric, XG constantly proves themselves as generational trailblazers. Just this year, they made an electric Coachella debut, wrapped up their first world tour, announced a new tour, and dropped a single that serves as the pre-release for their highly-anticipated debut full-length album. Talk about busy!

Fresh from dropping their newest single GALA, a high-energy runway anthem that reimagines a stylish, fashionable, glamorous world through XG’s futuristic lens, and in anticipation of their upcoming full album coming in January 2026, XG stops by for a chat with NYLON Manila about the year they’ve had, their perspectives on style, taking risks, and what’s coming up on the horizon.

ALL HAIL THE X(G)

You’re set to release your first full-length album soon! Are you feeling any different compared to when you release your mini albums? What are you most excited for?

JURIN: Since this is our very first full album, I’m honestly super nervous. And because it’s coming right after milestones like our world tour and Coachella, which were dreams we’ve held onto for years, I feel a good kind of pressure, like the real challenge starts here. But I believe that feeling is important for us. It’s the driving force that pushes us to always aim for the best, and thanks to that, I’m confident we’ll be able to deliver something truly special to everyone.

Right now, what I’m most excited about is seeing ALPHAZ’s reactions; whether they’re surprised or just having fun listening to the album. That’s the part I’m looking forward to the most. In that sense, I’d love for us to go on another world tour with our first full album in hand.

When people listen to your upcoming album, what kind of future do you want them to envision? What kind of feelings do you hope they have?

CHISA: I want the people who listen to this album to feel hope and inspiration. It’s okay if everyone interprets it differently, but if even one person hears a song and feels a little more hopeful, encouraged, or ready to move forward, that would make me really happy. No matter what emotions someone might be feeling, I hope this album becomes something that reminds them of the power of music.

You recently performed at Coachella! What’s something about the experience that you will remember forever?

JURIA: Performing at Coachella, a stage we had all dreamed of since our trainee days, was truly an honor, and it felt like a dream come true. We were so happy. Because it was an outdoor festival, there were strong winds and various unexpected incidents, but we managed to overcome them together and gave it our all on stage. Looking back now, it’s become such a special memory for us.

Do you feel any sort of pressure to always bring something new and distinctly XG, or do the new, creative ideas come easily to you?

HARVEY: Ideas naturally come to me in everyday life, such as things I want to try and creative concepts I want to bring to life. Like, “I want to do this kind of hair and makeup and wear this kind of outfit,” or “I want to shoot a music video with this texture or vibe.” Whenever those ideas pop up, I always share them with the team and our company, and we work together to develop them into something that feels true to XG. I’d be so happy if people who see or hear what we create can connect with it in some way, and at the same time feel a sense of freshness and discovery.

How important is style and fashion to you personally, given that it’s become such a big part of XG?

COCONA: To me, it’s the next most important thing after my heart and body. Fashion and personal style are often deeply connected to the heart. Even when I’m not feeling confident inside, fashion and style can give me that confidence. At the same time, the heart can give strength and color to fashion, making both the clothes and myself shine even more. I love how they bring out the best in each other. Fashion and style are an essential part of who I am. They are the soul of COCONA.

You’re known for your bold, powerful, and unique concepts. How do you find the strength to always be willing to take risks?

HINATA: I think it all comes from the fact that everyone has so many interests and a strong drive to grow! And on top of that, we’ve got big dreams and goals, teammates we trust, people we can count on, and fans who are always waiting for us—that means everything!

Do you have any advice for young people who are always afraid to take risks?

MAYA: I believe that everyone feels afraid when facing challenges or taking risks, and that’s completely normal! I have too. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone has their own pace, and your feelings can change from moment to moment. So instead of forcing yourself to take a big leap all at once, I feel that it’s important to be kind to yourself and trust yourself along the way. It’s very important to be your own biggest believer. When the time feels right, trusting yourself and taking that step can open new possibilities.

What are you manifesting for in 2026?

JURIN: 2025 was truly a huge year for us. From completing our long-dreamed-of world tour to performing at Coachella, we faced many challenges that not only prepared us for the next chapter, but also gave us time to reflect on our beginnings and reconnect with our core. That’s why now, having realized what we truly want to hold onto, we believe 2026 is going to be an even more exciting year for XG. We’re really looking forward to seeing how things will unfold.

We hope to share more moments and spaces where we can connect with ALPHAZ and everyone else, and we want this year to be one where we take bold steps toward even bigger dreams!
