When it comes to local organizations that deserve their flowers for fighting the good fight in the country, the Youth Advocates For Climate Action Philippines (YACAP) is on that list in how it has dedicated its mission to fighting climate change and promoting climate justice in the Philippines. The nationwide alliance of Filipino youth organizations, student councils, and individuals champion the local environment and understanding its interconnectedness with many aspects of Philippine society wherever they can, and as they should, given how disastrous climate change is for countries like the Philippines.

But it isn’t just through educational talks, protests, online campaigns, and on-ground activities like fashion shows that YACAP makes its voice and advocacies heard front and center. With membership mainly composed of Gen Z students and individuals, the group also knows how to add a little fun to what its fighting for, and that’s exactly happened on the newest episode of Dare-Z.

FOR THE CLIMATE, BUT MAKE IT GEN Z

ICYMI, March 2025 is our Style & Sustainability Issue which features four members of YACAP on the cover and was shot on location at Season Pass. With a generation that is increasingly seeing the value in secondhand, ukay-ukay, thrift, and vintage fashion as both a personal style statement and their way to not participate in the destructive nature of fast fashion, we felt YACAP made for a worthy cover star who stands on business and understand that Gen Z isn’t playing about their future.

It’s an energy they brought to Dare-Z as YACAP members and Gen Z environmental and climate advocates Mela Llamado, Fiona Fuentes, JC Cabangon, and Alab Mirasol Ayroso faced the wall of balloons to answer poignant questions and do a few fun dares. Advocating for climate justice isn’t limited to mobilization efforts, after all. From the importance of joining youth orgs, why rewearing the same clothes is not a bad thing, and other fun challenges, our four March 2025 cover stars took it on like the pros that they are. As the first youth organization to be on the cover of NYLON Manila and be on Dare-Z, it’s highkey a moment.

See how YACAP does by watching the full episode below. Don’t forget to check out NYLON Manila’s YouTube channel to watch the other Dare-Z episodes and other fun content.
