There are a few things in this world as universal as having a crush. Whether in childhood or adulthood, in school or the office, we are all bound to have a crush (or crushes) at one point or another. And guess what? That’s totally ok. There’s a reason why “Who is your celebrity crush?” or “Who was your first crush?” type of questions are so popular. We all develop a little crush on someone, regardless of how well we actually know them personally, from time to time. It’s this universal experience that we wanted to celebrate in our August Sweethearts issue.
We unapologetically dedicate an entire issue to discussing crushes, and on the cover are five young actors who we believe represent new gen crush energy. We chose Allen Ansay, Michael Sager, Josh Ford, Anthony Constantino, and Mad Ramos because they’ve got the looks, talent, and charisma as some of the crushes of Generation Now. So, to get to know them a little better (aside from the cover story, which you should read), scroll down for a quick primer on what you should know about these Gen Z heartthrobs.
ALLEN ANSAY
Allen Ansay burst onto the scene in 2019 when he competed in and made it to the finale of StarStruck season 7. His success on the show primed him for his showbiz career, and he hasn’t looked back since. The Gen Z actor has become one of GMA’s most prominent young faces, appearing in shows such as Prima Donas, Luv Is: Caught in His Arms, and Prinsesa ng City Jail.
Outside of acting, Allen is also a pretty impressive dancer, which you can see him flex in All-Out Sundays and his TikTok account that boasts over 4.2 million followers. Of course, we can’t talk about Allen without mentioning his relationship and love team with actress Sofia Pablo, which continues to charm many fans.
MICHAEL SAGER
Now if we’re talking all-rounder. We’re not the betting type, but if we were to bet on who would be GMA’s next big leading man, Michael Sager is on that list. Even before his time on PBB, Michael was booking leading role after leading role in teleseryes such as Shining Inheritance and My Ilonggo Girl, which is proof of the dedication he’s put in since moving from Canada to Manila alone to pursue a showbiz career.
And speaking of PBB, it’s lowkey iconic how Michael went from being one of the more misunderstood housemates at the beginning of the season to one of its most loved as people saw his outgoing and extroverted personality that screamed “meant to be a celebrity” energy, but in the best way. Michael has charisma for days, and you just can’t get enough of it.
JOSH FORD
While most people may have first heard of Filipino-British actor Josh Ford just this year, he’s actually been working in the industry since he was a kid. One of his earliest roles was playing a young Clark Medina, James Reid’s character on On The Wings of Love. That fact alone already makes him cooler in our eyes. His time on PBB showed us a lot of who the young actor is, from how he grieved and tried to move on from the car crash that nearly took his life to the bond he built with fellow housemate Kira Balinger. This British charmer isn’t leaving our radar anytime soon.
ANTHONY CONSTANTINO
Our TDH. But there’s a lot more to Anthony Constantino than just being a tall, moreno model with an A-tier face and body card. For example, did you know that before he moved to Manila, Anthony worked as a Technical Specialist at Apple? Also, he graduated from California Lutheran University with two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration in Marketing. Brains and brawn fr.
Aside from modeling, Anthony is also a budding actor, famously appearing in an episode of Esnyr’s high school series and playing a waiter in an episode of The Sex Lives of College Girls. Of course, there’s also the fact that Mr. TDH is currently courting Shuvee Etrata, and regardless of what happens in the end, we love how Anthony has been putting in the effort to court Shuvee and prove that he’s the man she deserves.
MAD RAMOS
Among our August cover stars, Mad Ramos is the freshest face, as he’s the youngest and his career just began this year. He landed on our radar when he was named Ultimate Sparkle Campus Cutie after winning Sparkle’s nationwide campus cutie search. Soon after, the 19-year-old volleyball player and student signed a contract with Sparkle GMA Artist Center and was also cast in the GMA youth series MAKA, joining a stacked cast of some of the network’s most promising young talents. It’s only the beginning for Mad, but as he embarks on his career and also represents his fellow Maranaos, we have a feeling he’s going to go places.
