From Barbie Forteza’s being our new fave Madlang Kapuso to Vice Ganda’s epic entrance, It’s Showtime brought out the fireworks.

If you told us a few years ago that It’s Showtime, ABS-CBN’s flagship noontime show, would air on GMA, we would have said you’d been taking too many delulu pills. But as they say, never say never, and what was once considerd a fantasy became a reality when It’s Showtime made its official move to GMA’s GTV on July 1.
Considering how the first day of the month was a big day for noontime shows for the major networks, It’s Showtime brought out all the stops for the historic moment. From collabs, performances, and appearances that didn’t seem like reality just a couple of years ago, here are some highlights from the July 1 episode of It’s Showtime.

Can we just point out that Vice Ganda, an out and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, was chosen to open the show by flying via helicopter from ABS-CBN to GMA and having an entire production number in front of the GMA building? That’s queer power and extra in the best way possible.

Barbie as a Kapamilya and Belle as a Kapuso? It feels like it was ripped straight from fan fiction. The GMA stars being on the July 1 episode was pretty much a test run for ABS and GMA to make more crossover projects featuring their biggest stars.

It felt so correct seeing and hearing Barbie greet the madlang people. Even Vice Ganda had to give Barbie her tens. More Barbie Forteza on It’s Showtime? Yes, please.

The network wars were nowhere to be found on the first Saturday of July 2023, especially in the GMA compound with how the staff was game to sing Showtime’s classic theme song. The simulation isn’t glitching, this happened.

ICYDK, Karylle and Gabbi Garcia both played Sang’gre Alena in Encantadia, the former in the original 2005 series and the latter in the 2016 reboot. So, when Karylle couldn’t make it to the show but Gabbi was guesting, Karylle made sure to give her blessing to her fellow Sang’gre.
