It just goes to show you how fangirling and fanboying is a universal truth that can happen to anyone, whether it be a regular person on the street or the biggest celebrities in the country. Your faves can and do get starstruck when meeting their heroes. Here are some of the times local A-listers unleashed their inner fan when meeting their idols in person.
ALEXA ILACAD AND MARIAN RIVERA
Alexa Ilacad is one successful fangirl as a few years back, she got to meet her ultimate idol in life, the one and only Marian Rivera. And out of all the places that could happen, it took place on a red carpet. Even to this day, Alexa speaks fondly of the moment. Now, all we need now is for Alexa to manifest that Marimar dream role.

As if we couldn’t love Janella Salvador enough, the queen of the vadengs is also a big fan of Drag Race Philippines and its queens. It’s the kind of love that made Janella wait outside Marina Summers’ dressing room before she could greet the Drag Race PH runner-up. Janella Salvador rarely waits for anything these days, except to meet one of her favorite drag queens.

With her stunning looks, impeccable talent, and vaunted last name, Janine Gutierrez could make anyone do a double-take. But even the Dirty Linen star was awestruck by the pop icon herself, Sarah Geronimo. Janine was so starstruck, she literally needed to be pushed by Maymay Entrata to go up to Sarah to take a picture with her.
BELLE MARIANO AND BAMBOO
Belle Mariano is really out here living the Y/N life. During the middle of an episode of ASAP, Donny initiated that Belle wanted to meet Bamboo, whom she is a big fan of. After some encouragement from her fellow stars, Belle went to the front and shook Bamboo’s hand, walking away afterward like a flustered fangirl. We don’t know what we like more, Belle met Bamboo or that her love team partner was the one who helped make it happen.

When Ne-Yo held a concert in Manila earlier this year, the moment would not be complete if Catriona Gray couldn’t recreate her iconic lava walk with the singer. And luckily for us, the moment manifested as Cat was one of the lucky people asked to dance on stage. FYI, Catriona first saw Ne-Yo in concert in 2010, and during the 2018 Miss Universe pageant, she was too shy to say hi. So, you can bet Cat took advantage of the fangirl moment as not only did he recognize her, but she also walked for her life on that stage.
ANNE CURTIS AND DUA LIPA
From K-drama actors to K-pop stars, Anne Curtis has had enough encounters to make any fangirl jealous. But our favorite has to be when she met Dua Lipa, at least virtually. First, Anne got a birthday greeting from the pop star, causing Anne’s jaw to drop to the floor and her soul to leave her body. Later on, she got to interview Dua via Zoom.
ZEINAB HARAKE AND MARIAN RIVERA
Crying or getting shy is a normal reaction when meeting your fave. Just take a look at what happened when Marian Rivera-fangirl-since-day-one Zeinab Harake met the A-list actress. As shared in a vlog, the YouTuber met Marian and Dingdong Dantes at an event with Marian recognizing Zeinab and giving her a big hug. Being the super fan that she is, Zeinab was already in tears the moment she saw Marian, which honestly was a whole mood.
KATHRYN BERNARDO AND TAYLOR SWIFT
As we hope and pray that Taylor Swift brings her upcoming The Era Tour to the Philippines, we’ll always have her 2014 concert to look back on. And one of our favorite moments was when noted Taylor fangirl Kathryn Bernardo got to meet her. Naturally, Kath took to Instagram to freak out over the sana all moment.

While she hasn’t met Billie Eilish face-to-face, yet, Niana Guerrero was at the barricade of her concert in Manila in 2022. And just the mere sight of Billie caused Niana to lose it. The social media superstar and Billie Eilish super fan had her soul ascend to the heavens as, for the first time, she finally got to see her idol live. Niana was all of us at that moment as she let her inner fangirl take over that night.
BGYO AND LIZA SOBERANO
The absolute adrenaline of seeing Liza Soberano play their female lead in The Baddest music video caused all the BGYO members to scream and jump like fanboys. It was a moment that was extra thrilling for JL since he’s a big fan of hers.

Carmina Villarroel was not prepared to see her idol Lea Salonga during her birthday celebration on Zoom. The special guest left Carmina visibly shook, and she even had to take off her earphones to scream.
