More than half a million pesos in grant money can be yours thanks to the British Council’s funding for local artists and cultural organizations.

As early as cavemen learning how to make cave drawings and paintings, art has always been used as a form of self-expression, storytelling, and culture sharing. These days, art can come in a whole host of mediums, from the physical to the digital, but it’s trait of being used to share and express ideas has remained the same.
This is something the British Council has been celebrating for years as they look to highlight and champion cross-cultural collaborations from across the world. And this year, they are again putting their money where their mouth is by offering Filipino creatives a staggering grant worth more than half a million pesos to see their creative vision fulfilled. Here’s how you can apply.
CROSS CULTURE FUNDING
Recently, the British Council launched the Connections Through Culture (CTC) grant for 2023-24 for artists and cultural institutions, opening new opportunities for research, development, and partnerships between the UK and the international community. Established in August 2019 in Southeast Asia, the Connections Through Culture (CTC) grants have supported artistic collaborations between artists and arts organizations in the UK and Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In the Philippines, the British Council is opening grants to cultural organizations for projects, whether it be in the form of film, literature, music, theater, and more, highlighting the collaboration between the UK and the country, designed to encourage new connections and partnerships across a broad spectrum of art forms. And exactly how much are they offering? Oh, just up to £10,000 or around 700,000 pesos, no big deal.
Anyone is free to apply, and the project can be at any stage of development. So whether it’s in the planning phase or already in production, it’s good to go, as long as it has a timeline ending no later than October 31, 2024.
However, the British Council has stipulated that each application must comprise at least one UK applicant and one applicant from the Philippines with their project proposal. Also, they prioritize collaborative projects that tackle and deal with the theme of Climate Change as well as Diversity and Inclusion.
