If there’s one thing Sophia Laforteza is going to do, it’s be proud of her Filipino heritage. Even before she became a member and leader of KATSEYE, the Gen Z idol has made her Filipino roots no secret. From her open love of her favorite Filipino food, sinigang, teaching her members Filipino words and phrases, listening to Filipino songs, and more, Sophia will wave her Filipino card. As she shared in a Teen Vogue interview, “I want to be somebody who will never hide the fact that I’m Filipino.”
That love of her culture and heritage also extends to the fact that she’s friends with a lot of our faves. Sophia and SB19’s mutual stanning extends as far back as when Sophia was still a contestant on Dream Academy. Since then, we’ve gotten a couple of TikTok collabs between SB19 and KATSEYE, some of the SB19 members dancing to Gnarly, and most recently, Sophia attending the group’s Los Angeles concert (and reportedly skipped over BLACKPINK’s concert to do so). Sohpia has made her love for G22 no secret. Not only is she friends with the girls, invited them to her birthday party (more on that later), and has bopped along to their songs such as Pa-Pa-Pa-Palaban, but she also said that she would want to collaborate with the trio.
“But there’s this one girl group, G22, that I am so obsessed with. These girls, they’re like my sisters, and I love their songs,” Sophia revealed in a Vogue Philippines interview. “I feel like we would just be on the same wavelength if we were to share the stage together. I feel like they have so much of that, excuse my language, like the cuntiness and just that girl power.” We agree, Sophia, and hopefully that collab can come ASAP because the world needs that queen energy.
