If you’re an avid gamer or follow the local gaming scene, then you may have heard of Tier One. Ever since its inception in 2017 by Alodia Gosiengfiao, Tryke Gutierrez, and Brian Lim, Tier One has become one of the premier gaming and esports entertainment companies not just in the Philippines, but in all of Southeast Asia. Some of the top and biggest streamers, esports players, and content creators in the country are signed to Tier One.

Tier One has been on a roll lately, expanding their scope to building a new headquarters and launching a reality show. But now, the company is looking to expand across the world. And they are set to first make their mark in the land of the rising sun, Japan.

TIER ONE GETS INTO THE MUSIC BUSINESS

Going outside its usual fields of gaming and esports, Tier One is making itself a go-to entertainment company in general. This is why they are entering the field of music for the first time. Tier One is set to debut its first idol group in Japan within the coming months. They are set to promote both in Japan and around the world. As part of this endeavor, Tier One signed an investment deal with KAYAC, a Japan-based internet firm. Meanwhile, they partnered with Warner Music Group to promote the group’s music.

“Japan is a country with a long history both in gaming and innovation in multimedia. With over 57% of its population being gamers, there’s a big opportunity for us to grow our brand. Tier One is bringing our brand of entertainment to the Japanese gaming industry. Our goal is to gather a core team and build an initial roster of content creators that will elevate esports and video games in Japan in ways the country has never experienced before,” said Tryke Gutierrez, CEO of Tier One Entertainment.

Alodia Gosiengfiao shared her excitement about the new generation of talent to come from this expansion. “Not only are we signing new talents for the Japanese market, but we’re also going to debut our idol group, which will be Tier One’s greatest expression of cutting-edge style to date.”

TIER ONE’S IDOL GROUP

Under the unofficial name of Project 4, the idol group is slated to have four members. One member has already been revealed, model and cosplayer, Harry “har_fie” Field. The rest of the members will be revealed in the coming months. With the group’s members coming from the fields of content creation, the group is looking to redefine what it means to be an influencer and content creator who challenges the status quo. The idol group will also be the beginning of a new breed of Tier One talents who will elevate the level of content creation to new heights.

As to what kind of music the group will make has yet to be determined. They aren’t the first gaming-centric group to launch their own idol group though. Most famously, Riot Games, makers of League Of Legends and Valorant, launched K/DA in 2018 to widespread success. But exciting times are ahead for Tier One. If the group does well, no doubt Tier One will continue its foray into music and other ventures. And who knows, this might be the start of Tier One becoming a global entertainment company.
