This week is the week of unexpected but much welcome collabs.

James Reid, Jay B, and Ozi say hello while Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa serve visuals in this week’s new music releases.

As we enter the summer season, the music industry continues to heat things up with all the recent events that have been happening. The past week alone saw TXT, Gigi de Lana, and BTS, hold in-person concerts for the first time in a considerable while. Speaking of concerts, Lady Gaga finally announced the new tour dates for her Chromatica Ball stadium tour. Andrea Brillantes and a few of the biggest names in Philippine gaming partnered with Mobile Legends for a new song about breaking stereotypes in gaming. Sharlene San Pedro showed of her new blonde ‘do and teased that she has a new song coming soon.

In a bit of exciting news, it looks like He’s Into Her and PBB are set to get new songs, and both are going to be sung by some of our favorite P-pop groups. Speaking of P-pop, SB19 teased an exciting collab with none other than Niana Guerrero. The group are also set to perform at an online event for KCC Philippines this Saturday. And finally, Red Velvet dropped the ballerina teaser photos for their next comeback and they once again prove that they deliver some of the best concepts in the industry.

SWEETEST PIE – MEGAN THEE STALLION AND DUA LIPA

Megan Thee Stallion collaborating with Dua Lipa was something we imagined in our dreams. But in another win for manifestation, these two queens have come together for the first time to release a new song called Sweetest Pie. The upbeat pop track is a fun and not-so-subtle innuendo at enjoying what a woman has to offer. Dua delivers her signature vocals while Megan serves her fire bars as usual. The music video, meanwhile, it a visual treat that sees both women serve looks and assert their dominance over men.

HELLO 2.0 (LEGENDS ONLY) – JAMES REID, JAY B, AND OZI

Legends indeed. James Reid, Jay B, and Ozi say hello in different languages in this much-anticipated remix of James’ song from 2021. The funk-pop track is all about connecting with others especially during tumultuous times like these. Having these three different Asian artists on the song gives it a more worldwide flavor.

BONES – IMAGINE DRAGONS

For their first new music release of 2022, Imagine Dragons serves another banger with Bones. The track spirited examination of life and death, the song explodes with an infectious chorus that celebrates the intangible spark that ignites our beings. The two and a half minute song features the groups signature epic sound mixed chorus that will get you pumped up for the day. Speaking of new music, the track serves as their first cut of their upcoming new album, Mercury – Act 2.

GANADARA – JAY PARK AND IU

For his very first release under his new label, Jay Park teams up with IU for a new song called GANADARA. The track is a cute love song about feeling shy when you’re with someone you like. The music video, meanwhile, is pretty meta as it follows Jay as he tries to get IU to show up on the set of the music video.

IN MY BED – JACKSON WANG

This week, Jackson Wang released new music with the drop of his English mixtape, LOST & FOUND. The album release marks his first full length project since the release of MIRRORS in 2019. The 8-track album focuses heavily on elements of R&B, hip-hop, and trap.

THE OUTSIDER – LYN LAPID

Lyn Lapid initially shared this song as a demo months ago on TikTok. And now, she finally dropped the completed version and it’s a bop. The Outsider sees the young singer and songwriter reminisce on a past relationship. It’s an upbeat track that you can’t help but scream the lyrics to when it reaches the chorus.  

OPEN A WINDOW – REX ORGANGE COUNTY AND TYLER, THE CREATOR

This week is a good week for Rex Orange County fans as he finally dropped new music in the form of his latest studio album, WHO CARES? The 11-track LP serves as his first album in over three years since the release of 2019’s Pony. Ahead of the album’s release, he also dropped a new song called OPEN A WINDOW, which is a collab with Tyler, The Creator.

I’D LIKE TO – SAB AND MOOPHS

Rising indie singer and composer goes back to her roots with her new song, I’d Like To. A collaboration with Moophs and her first release under Tarsier Records, I’d Like To is an indie-pop track that touches on the themes of puppy love and teenage awkwardness. The ukulele-focused song takes inspiration from SAB’s own personal experience of having a crush on one of her best friends.

MY LOVE – FLORENCE + THE MACHINE

Have you ever imagined how Florence + The Machine would make dance music? Well, you don’t need to dream about that because their latest single, My Love, is their take on dance music, and it’s as good as you think it is. Hearing the song, it reminds us of her previous efforts for Lungs and Ceremonials which is not bad at all. The track serves as their latest release of their upcoming studio album Dance Fever, a 14-track album dropping on May 13.

PANTONE 17 13 30 – YUNA

Malaysian superstar Yuna is out with new music this week with the release of the sensual Pantone 17 13 30. A reference to the famous color matching company, Pantone demonstrates Yuna’s smooth and soothing voice as she expresses her love for someone in the track. Yuna also dropped her latest EP called Y1.

OH SORRY YA – SUNMI

Released on International Women’s Day as part of Spotify’s EQUAL X Spotify Singles project, Oh Sorry Ya sees Sunmi channel her inner 1980s retro goddess as she sings about a relationship gone bad and how she won’t be the one losing in the end.

KIDLAT – LITZ

Prepare to feel the electricity as LITZ finally makes their debut with the release of their new song Kidlat. Composed by Marian Aunor, the track sees the girl group sing about a seemingly love lost that returns with just a touch. The song showcases the girls’ vocals as its verses build up for the beat drop in the chorus.

SILONG – ISSA RODRIGUEZ AND KYLE JULIANO

Even if we’re long past Valentine’s, that doesn’t mean we can enjoy a good hugot song. For this week, we suggest you give a listen to Silong by Issa Rodriguez and Kyle Juliano. The track delves into the uneasy feeling of holding out hope for someone when the other is no longer there.

ROMANCE WITH A MEMORY – OLIVER SIM

Oliver Sim, who you may know as the songwriter, bassist and vocalist for The xx, makes his solo debut with the release of his first single Romance With A Memory. “I’m thrilled, excited, ecstatic, over caffeinated and overjoyed to be sharing ‘Romance with a Memory’ with you all,” said Sim in a statement. “I’ve also made a compilation of some of my favorite monsters, killers and queers getting down. I hope both the music and monsters make you feel as happy as they make me—I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to watch a ghoul having a good time.”

NANINIGURADO – HUHSMILE

Overthinking is an experience many people go through, especially in those moments of uncertainty. This is what huhsmile new song Naninigurado is all about. The chill track sees the young musician reflect on a rocky relationship and just making sure that there is nothing left between them.

MAGNIFICENT – OH WONDER

Fresh of the release of their 22 Break album release last year, the alt-pop duo are back with a new song called Magnificent. The track serves as the first single for their upcoming new album, 22 Make, the surprise second half to their last release. Following their break up during the pandemic, they found each other again, got married, and used that experience to form 22 Make.

EUPHORIA – HOEST

In his latest track, Euphoria, HOEST blends techno and house, spotlighting a deep bass progression and punchy drums. Paired with The Other Gemini’s mesmerizing vocals, the rave tune presents the listener with the irresistible offer of self-discovery.
