line
New serves for your consideration.

The week’s new bangers include SB19’s new pop-disco track, Xdinary Heroes rocking debut single, and Kaia’s pre-debut bop.

Another eventful week has gone by in the world of music. Among the many happenings in the music industry, BTS announced that they were taking a much-deserved extended vacation. But don’t worry as each member finally opened their own IG account for our enjoyment. Award season is in full swing with major awards shows recently happening being MMA 2021 and MAMA 2021. Speaking of the 2021 MAMA awards, BTS swept the show with nine wins and the show was once again mired in controversy for a myriad of reasons because MNET can’t seem to get their act together.

Meanwhile, Doja Cat dropped her Woman music video and the best part is that it is codable, which means you can test out your coding skills and change the look of the video. Drake and Kanye West put their feud aside and held their epic joint concert in LA. And December 13 is a special day for Swifties, as not only is 13 Taylor’s favorite number, but it’s also Taylor Swift’s birthday.

On the local side of things, SB19 continues to make history by topping a Billboard chart and appearing on year-end lists from Spotify, Apple Music, and Google. The past week was also filled with new music releases that are a great fit for a wide variety of playlists. On the lookout for more new music? Then take a look at our list of the best new bangers of the week.

No Stopping You – SB19

SB19 delves into the world of OSTs in their newest song, No Stopping You, a pop-electronic-disco-inspired song about confidence and following your dreams. SB19 rarely makes this kind of music, but the track is proof that they should explore the sound more in the future. While everyone did a great job, we’re particularly loving Pablo and Josh’s parts. The song serves as the official theme song of Love At First Stream, an entry to the 2021 MMFF.

Happy Death Day – Xdinary Heroes

Prepare to rock out with (and stan) Xdinary Heroes and their debut single, Happy Death Day. The latest group to come out of JYPE, Xdinary Heroes is a six-member idol rock band and their first single is already a banger. TBH, they’re giving us a bit of DAY6 vibes, but we’re hoping that they don’t experience the same struggles as them.

PANO – Zack Tabaudlo

Few artists had a breakout year this 2021 like what Zack Tabudlo had. From hit singles like Binibini and Nangangamba, Zack dominated 2021. And before 2021 comes to a close, Zack caps off his stellar year with the release of his new song, PANO. The track is an R&B-pop ballad that explores the themes of confused love and the pain of losing someone you’ve given your heart and love to, despite trying your best to make everything work.

Girl Of My Dreams – Juice WRLD and Suga

Juice WRLD recently dropped his latest studio album, Fighting Dreams. The album is full of bops, but we’re really loving Juice WRLD’s collab with Suga. It’s a collab we weren’t expecting but happy it’s real.

NCT U – Universe (Let’s Play Ball)

Ahead of the release of NCT’s third album, Universe, on December 14, NCT U is back with a new song, Universe (Let’s Play Ball). This new iteration of NCT U includes Mark, Doyoung, Jungwoo, Xiaojun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Yangyang, and Shotaro.

KAYA – Kaia

A new P-pop girl group is in town, and they are for sure ones to watch out for. As the first P-pop girl group from ShowBT Philippines and the first group from the company since SB19, Kaia has a lot of expectations to meet. But if their pre-debut single, KAYA, is anything to go by, it seems that they’ll meet those expectations.

Derived from the Filipino word which means finding one’s own courage, the upbeat electro-pop track tackles the importance of coping with the turbulent times and being able to bounce back stronger amidst the adversities in life. The song is written by Maegan Adriano and KAIA themselves, who took inspiration from the hardships that they’ve gone through as a group.

Rosas – Parokya Ni Edgar

Iconic OPM band Parokya Ni Edgar just made a major comeback with the release of their latest studio album, Borbolen. Considering how their last album, Pogi Years Old, dropped over five years ago, the new album is like an early Christmas gift for their fans.

MONSTA X – You Problem

Fresh of the release of their NO LIMIT EP, MONSTA X is back with new music. This time, they dropped their second full English album, The Dreaming. The group also released their newest single, the disco-funk-inspired You Problem.

sabik – The Juans

The Juans are back with a brand new single with sabik. The song is a pop mellow and cozy tune filled with dreamy R&B hooks and verses filled with faith to trust distance and time until the worlds of two souls finally converge paths.

ATEEZ – The Real

ATEEZ recently released their newest EP,  ZERO: FEVER EPILOGUE. And along with this, they also released the truly cinematic music video for The Real that is arguably one of, if not their best music video to date.

Mino – TANG!

WINNER’S Mino recently came back with the release of his new album TO INFINITY and once again he refuses to miss. TANG! serves as the lead comeback single which sees Mino try to spoil a girl through material possessions.

Adie – Tahanan

Adie is out with a new single that is sure to give you butterflies and tingling sensations. Tahanan is a soulful melody of romantic devotion from Adie and is a weaving pop and folk tunes that convey comfort and security.

Ikaw Pa Yung Galit – ALLMO$T

Gaslighters are put on blast in ALLMO$T’s new single, Ikaw Pa Yung Galit. An anthem for gaslighting victims, the chill electro R&B track is not only a whole vibe, but has a message many people can relate to about a toxic relationship.

It Was A… (Masked Christmas) – Jimmy Fallon, Ariana Grande, and Megan Thee Stallion

There’s nothing wrong with celebrating this Christmas with friends and family. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t disregard proper health and safety protocols to do so. That is the theme this new song featuring Jimmy Fallon, Ariana Grande, and Megan Thee Stallion (who by the way just graduated from college), takes on. The track makes reference to how the fact that Christmas may be different for most people and how we should most likely get our booster shoots soon. While we know this is a comedic single, it actually is way better than it has any right to be.

Langit – 6cylemind

The past week was a great week for classic and iconic OPM pop-rock bands to release music as 6cyclemind are back with the release of their new single, Langit. Characterized by its soaring introspection, Langit is a song about chasing one’s dreams, making it happen, and allowing yourself to fail and persevere in order to achieve your goals in life. The track serves as their first single of their upcoming seventh studio album, their first in over 10 years.

Fantabulous – Minzy

Minzy brings the vocals and the bars in her latest single, Fantabulous. Her fourth single is a Latin-pop song with a beat you’re going to have a hard time to forget. Not only does Minzy slay in the vocals department, but she even raps in the song as well. We’re here for the short yet sweet dance break in the music video and the fact that she made the choreography herself.

Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita – Gigi de Lana

In the mood to cry, emote, or be in awe of vocal prowess? Then this song is for you. Serving as the theme song to upcoming iQIYI Filipino original show Hello, Heart, Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita is a tour de force of emotion and runs that Gigi de Lana confidently slays in her cover.

Halo-Halo – The Itchyworms

As part of the group’s 25th anniversary celebrations, The Itchyworms recently dropped  the second installment of their holiday-themed album, Christmas Starts When The Bers Begin. Containing two new tracks, Halo-Halo and Meri Xmas 2 U, the album is poised to be a go-to favorite this holiday season.

snowing in LA – thuy

Rising R&B singer-songwriter thuy has a lot to be thankful for this 2021. And she continues that streak with the release of her newest single, snowing in LA. The track  is a sentimental, soft about “when you’re in a relationship in another city that is not your hometown so when the holidays come around, everyone goes back home and the city becomes a ghost town.”
