The 2025 Oscars has cinephiles and Letterboxd users buzzing. This year’s contenders have been exciting movie lovers everywhere, making it an event with everyone glued to their screens. We also know that many fashion lovers (including us) tune in to see what our fave celebs wear on the red carpet and at the ceremony, and this year was no exception with major slayage from some of our faves. From delivering classic Hollywood glamour to giving something new and unique, these head-turning stars shined bright with their outfits at this year’s Academy Awards.
ARIANA GRANDE IN SCHIAPARELLI

Wicked star Ariana Grande has been method dressing during the whole press tour for the film, and she just keeps eating with these looks. Dressed in a custom Schiaparelli (based on a gown featured in their Spring/Summer collection) gown that gave Glinda realness, this structured look is casting a spell on us. Ariana continues her pink streak, as the dress has a gentle tinge of Glinda’s signature color. The structured bodice paired with the flowy tulle skirt is just *chef’s kiss*. She accessorized the look with diamond studs and a pendant necklace for a true dream look moment.
TIMOTHÉE CHALAMET IN GIVENCHY

Butter yellow has been the color on everyone’s mind recently, including Timothée Chalamet’s. The A Complete Unknown star sported a custom suit from Givenchy, proving he knows his fashion trends. This isn’t the first time Chalamet’s looks have caught the attention of fans and fashion lovers everywhere. Timothée’s looks (and general antics, TBH) for the film’s press tour have lowkey been giving off mild chaotic energy-and we love it. This modern and eccentric take on a suit has become one of our favorites this year.
CYNTHIA ERIVO IN LOUIS VUITTON

Cynthia Erivo’s portrayal of Elphaba in Wicked has cemented itself in pop culture history. Her performance gave us everything from iconic riffs to powerful acting chops. Alongside her co-star, she’s also been in her method-dressing bag for the film’s press tour. This year’s Academy Awards is no exception. Dressed in a deep emerald velvet gown from Louis Vuitton, this look is something we’d love to see in the Western sky. She also wore her signature nails courtesy of nail artist Mycah Dior with a stack of rings, chunky earrings, and her classic septum ring.
SELENA GOMEZ IN RALPH LAUREN

The Oscars serve as an opportunity for celebrities to wear their best glam, and Selena Gomez knew what needed to be done. She exuded old Hollywood energy, wearing a custom Ralph Lauren gown that was a work of art featuring more than 16,000 drops of glass sewn onto it. The classy neckline and the bob are pure vintage fantasy, and we’re eating it up.
DEMI MOORE IN ARMANI PRIVÉ

Demi Moore’s performance in The Substance has had a hold on cinephiles ever since its release, and so have her outfits for the press tour and awards season. She shined in a silver Armani Privé gown that glittered throughout the red carpet. She paired the dress with accessories from Chopard, such as a cuff and drop earrings. This look has us gagging, ready to call her mother at any given moment. Even if she didn’t win, Demi is still a queen to us.
BRETMAN ROCK IN ROBERT WUN

Okay diva! Our favorite influencer and baddie, Bretman Rock, shined bright on the red carpet in his Oscars debut and wore a gilded ensemble by Robert Wun. This whole look truly captures Bretman’s energy and mixes it with that classic Oscars flair. The outfit featured pleats that shimmered under the lights, making him shine brighter than the Oscar trophy itself. His bronzy beat and stylish updo completed the number, making it one of our personal favorites.
ELLE FANNING IN GIVENCHY

Elle Fanning is the gift that keeps giving, and this outfit proves that. She debuted Sarah Burton’s first design for Givenchy at the ceremony, no big deal. The A Complete Unknown actress wore a white lace dress with a black bow tied across the waist. This classy ensemble was paired with a Cartier necklace, making it the perfect cherry on top for this look. Considering that this was Fanning’s first time attending the awards (yes, it’s true), she wore the perfect outfit to attend the ceremony.
LISA IN MARK GONG

Coming in to make history as the first K-pop artist to perform at the Oscars, LISA never fails to make a pop culture moment wherever she goes. As such, she came onto the red carpet in a MARK GONG ensemble. Sporting a floor-length blazer, collared button-up shirt, trousers, and a bright red corsage, LISA was serving James Bond with this one (a taste for her tribute performance with collaborators Doja Cat and RAYE). This look is a departure from her usual glam gowns, but it’s a welcome one at that.
MILEY CYRUS IN ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Miley Cyrus wearing custom Alexander McQueen is a match made in fashion heaven. Besides presenting awards, she also presented us with one of our favorite looks of the night. The elegant black dress featured black beading, giving it a glittering effect. She accessorized with black lace gloves and statement diamond earrings. The bombshell curls in her hair are also a major highlight of the look (BRB, we’re going to try and recreate it). This also marks the debut of Miley’s bleached brows, and we sense a new trend we’ll be seeing on the fashion girlies real soon.
ARIANA GRANDE IN SCHIAPARELLI (AGAIN)

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo opened the ceremony with a moving performance that gave us goosebumps. But aside from the stunning vocals, we also lived for the fashion moment as Ariana referenced the iconic ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. Wearing another custom Schiaparelli gown, Grande wore her own pair of ruby slippers that matched the dress’s color. That’s not even the best part. The dress also featured a heel sculpted at the back of the bodice, making for a total haute couture moment that’s going to find its way onto best-of lists in December.
