As the Philippines continues to grow its place and influence in the global fashion scene, noted Filipino personalities are increasingly having a bigger presence some of the biggest fashion markets in the world. Icons like Heart Evangelista and Pia Wurtzbach are becoming mainstays of Fashion Week, often attending the biggest shows of each season. Meanwhile, A-list stars like Nadine Lustre, Liza Soberano, and Anne Curtis have been invited by international fashion brands to attend events.

Another aspect of Filipino culture that the global fashion industry has been tapping into these days is the use of Filipino content creators. And we aren’t just talking about fashion and beauty content creators flown overseas for brand trips. We’re talking about creators who aren’t known as fashion influencers yet work with luxury brands and designers to promote their products or participate in campaigns.

Call it Pinoy baiting if you want, but at least these high-end brands are tapping into the cultural zeitgeist and giving local creators, some of whom you wouldn’t normally expect to rock designer threads, a spotlight. It gets people talking, and isn’t that the whole point of marketing? Check out the unexpected but welcome crossovers between Filipino TikTok creators and international designer brands below.

YU JENNER IN LOEWE

This diva deserves all the spotlights. @yu_jenner #LOEWE

Yu Jenner is known for their stunning makeshift gowns made out of curtains and bedsheets. Their videos showing the designs have racked up millions of views on TikTok, and they even caught Loewe’s attention. The Spanish luxury fashion brand partnered with the young creative by sending over a white lace trapeze maxi dress with a hand-twisted scarf collar to the 17-year-old designer to wear. Oh, and it’s also the same gown actress Greta Lee wore to the 2024 Emmys. Completing the look with Toy Pumps, Yu Jenner stunned in head-to-toe Loewe. Going from making DIY gowns in your living room to wearing couture is the kind of fantasy fulfillment we aspire to have.

RYNIEL PINEDA AKA DANCINGSECURITYGUARD SECURING THE JACQUEMUS BAG, LITERALLY

@jacquemus Paris, this diva has arrived early 🧑🏾‍✈️💋 see you tomorrow at the #jacquemus show 2pm CET time, streaming live on tiktok at 7:30pm. @Dancingsecurityguard👨‍✈️ ♬ Bonde das Oncinhas – Dj LK da Escócia

With over four million TikTok followers and counting, Dancingsecurityguard is, well, a dancing security guard who often goes viral on the platform for his dance videos. The content creator, whose real name is Ryniel Pineda, really is serving on the job. And speaking of serving, that’s exactly what he did when French fashion brand Jacquemus tapped him to promote their La Croisiere show earlier this year.

In a video posted on the brand’s TikTok page, Ryniel dances while an announcement poster for the show is seen on the wall and a Jacquemus Turismo bag is on the floor. You know what Jacquemus, you kinda ate with that, and we hope you let Ryniel keep the bag.

Mathilda Airlines has made a name for herself on TikTok for educating netizens on social issues, pertinent news, and trending topics that should be looked at with a critical lens, and we love that for her. But Mathilda also makes time to educate the girls on Loewe’s viral 2023 Polly Pocket collection. Wearing a pink top and light green pleated mini skirt from the collection, Mathilda does her signature pole spin before explaining the inspiration behind Loewe’s 2023 women’s collection. ATP, we just know there’s a Filipino on Loewe’s marketing team.
