Now, if we’re talking true K-pop superstars, TAEYANG is coming through, and his Manila concert will be further proof of that.

Good things come to those who wait, and in the case of V.I.Ps, that means brand new music and activities from BIGBANG. In the past year alone, we got, among other things, a G-DRAGON music comeback (with a new album and tour coming later this year), a new song featuring GD, TAEYANG, and DAESUNG, and a surprise reunion at MAMA 2024 that appropriately broke the internet.
But if that wasn’t enough, we have more to look forward to in 2025. For Filipino V.I.Ps, that begins with TAEYANG’s long-awaited concert in the Philippines this February 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. That’s K-pop royalty right there taking over MOA Arena for one night thanks to Karpos, and you’ll know we’ll be there. As we’re just a few days from the concert, we lay down a few reasons why this concert deserves the hype.
IT’S BEEN YEARS SINCE HE’S BEEN IN MANILA
The last time TAEYANG was in the country for a solo concert was over seven years ago. Yeah, some of your K-pop biases were probably still trainees back then. But that long wait is finally over, and after two sold-out shows in Seoul, TAEYANG is taking his 2025 Tour [THE LIGHT YEAR] to Asia with Manila as one of the stops. Many of his Filipino fans have been waiting for this moment, and we just know TAEYANG is going to deliver.
HE’S AN INCREDIBLE PERFORMER
Now if we’re talking about Aces in K-pop, TAEYANG is not only on that list, he arguably helped invent it. When you think about the image of a K-pop idol, you think of someone like TAEYANG who delivers on the vocals, moves, choreography, charisma, and stage presence as an all-around performer and arguably one of the best the industry has ever seen. He’s a K-pop idol’s K-pop idol and the kind of artist the new generation takes notes from. Even after nearly two decades on the scene, TAEYANG’s still got it and you will get a show from him.
HE HAS HITS FOR DAYS
TAEYANG rose to fame as a member of BIGBANG, and as a solo artist, he’s reached similar highs. TAEYANG consistently redefined R&B and K-pop with his groundbreaking music from his first solo album, Hot, to his latest EP, Down to Earth. Over the years, the K-pop icon has solidified his reputation as a global artist with bangers like RINGA LINGA and VIBE (feat. Jimin of BTS).
Even if you’re a casual fan, you’ve probably heard of the collapse that is Eyes, Nose, Lips, a staple of many K-pop playlists. The OGs know it’s a classic and we’ll be ready to belt our hearts out once he performs the *iconic* ballad at the concert. From his timeless bops to newer releases, B-sides, and not to mention the extensive catalog with BIGBANG, TAEYANG has the hits we can’t wait to hear on February 22.
Needless to say, TAEYANG is not just an artist—he’s a living legend who continues to evolve and elevate his craft, and his Manila return will be a showcase of how much he’s grown in the past years. Who knows, if we’re lucky, we might even get a “yeorobun” recreation.
