NYLON Manila Picks: The Media And Entertainment We Raved Over In February 2025

line
Short month, long list of options.

From one of Lady Gaga’s best songs in years to Marvin and Jolina’s comeback movie, February had its fair share of bops and bangers.

At just 28 days long, February is the shortest month of the year, which may explain why (for some of us) the month felt like it zoomed past as compared to a glacial January. But even then, that didn’t mean February ran low on new entertainment options. In fact, we’d argue February was the best month yet this 2025 in terms of media picks. From movies to shows, music to concerts, we made the most out of a quick month. Check out our favorite media picks of February 2025 below.

ABRACADABRA BY LADY GAGA – RAFAEL BAUTISTA, DEPUTY EDITOR

The way I almost fell to my knees when I first heard this song. I’ve been a Little Monster since 2010, and Abracadabra truly feels like dark pop Gaga in her prime. And the music video? Devoured from start to finish. It’s one of my favorite songs she’s ever released, one of my top songs of 2025 so far, and it reminded me why Gaga was the first artist I ever became a stan of.

Listening to the song and watching the MV is almost like seeing an old friend be great, and that’s not saying Gaga was doing horribly these past few years. But OG Little Monsters know that Abracadabra, and this whole Mayhem era in general, has a kind of energy we haven’t felt from Gaga in years.

TAEYANG’S THE LIGHTYEAR CONCERT IN MANILA – RAFAEL BAUTISTA, DEPUTY EDITOR

As someone who has never seen BIGBANG or any of the members live, I took the chance to catch TAEYANG’s Manila concert. I believe that TAEYANG is one of K-pop’s best performers, and seeing him live reaffirmed that belief. His dance moves ate, his vocals were exquisite (the mic is on!), and his songs were nostalgic af and hit just as good live. But when he started playing BIGBANG songs, I felt my spirit ascend. There’s just something so animating about hearing BANG BANG BANG and Fantastic Baby live. It’s my favorite concert of the year so far.

NOSFERATU – RAFAEL BAUTISTA, DEPUTY EDITOR

When I tell you my inner horror movie fan was dying having to wait this long to watch Nosferatu, but I knew that, despite opportunities to watch it earlier, catching it in an actual cinema would be worth it. And as you can assume from this movie’s inclusion on the list, it was. Dark, beautiful, and stunningly haunting, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a visceral tour de force. From a storytelling and technical perspective, the film hits all the marks. And lowkey the movie also serves as a warning of what happens if you get down bad a little too much.

XO KITTY – BIANCA LAO, SENIOR BRAND ASSOCIATE

Better late than never, right? After hearing of the series from my team members and as a fan of Lara Jean from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, I decided to give the series a shot and found myself binging both seasons in two days. I’ve always had a liking towards series that are light-hearted and make you feel a “kilig” overload, so I very much enjoyed XO, Kitty and look forward to its third season.

EX EX LOVERS – NICA GLORIOSO, FEATURES AND POP CULTURE WRITER

Ex Ex Lovers truly was a great time—though I’m not the target audience for the 90s/2000s references, I thoroughly enjoyed the comedy, the family dynamics, the chemistry between Marvin and Jolina, the digs at society and systemic issues, the messages, and the love that overflows in every scene.

LOVE HANGOVER BY JENNIE AND DOMINIC FIKE – GELO QUIJENCIO, MULTIMEDIA ARTIST

I love R&B Jennie hence why I love Love Hangover by JENNIE & Dominic Fike. It has a dreamy and intoxicating vibe that perfectly captures the feeling of being lost in love. Her smooth, sultry vocals blend effortlessly with the hypnotic beat, making the song feel soothing and addictive.

HIGH POTENTIAL – PRECY TAN, COPYWRITER

As someone who grew up watching Castle, Criminal Minds, NCIS, and all those classic detective shows, High Potential feels like such a refreshing take on the genre. The lead is a strong, smart single mom who uses her sharp mind (and a little chaos) to crack cases in the most unexpected ways.

I love that it’s a different mystery every episode, so it never feels repetitive or dragging. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, and I’m already dying to know what happens next. If you’re into crime-solving with a fun, fresh twist, this one’s a must-watch!
