While April begins with April Fool’s Day, the new content coming our way this month is no joke. From horror, action, drama, comedy, romance, concert films, and more, April 2024 is coming in packed with new content to enjoy, consume, and obsess over. Scroll down for the new titles dropping in the next four weeks to have on your radar. 

PARASYTE: THE GREY

One of the many things Koreans are good at is making shows about people getting infected by something. So, consider us intrigued with this series. When unidentified parasites violently take over human hosts and gain power, humanity must rise to combat the growing threat. See how this unfolds when it streams on Netflix this April 5. 

THE FIRST OMEN

Get ready to go back to where it all started. Set in 1971, the new Omen chapter, which serves as both a prequel and a standalone to the original, follows Margaret, a young American woman sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church. There, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of an evil incarnate. It screens in local cinemas beginning April 5. 

GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE

The story of the next generation of Ghostbusters continues, and this time, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age. You can catch this in local theaters this April 10. 

CIVIL WAR

From director-writer Alex Garland comes this fictional tale of what would happen if a second civil war erupted in the USA, in this case, California, Texas, and Florida deciding to split from the federal government. A group of military-embedded journalists race against time and danger to reach Washington DC before rebel factions descend upon the White House. You can catch this in local cinemas beginning April 10. 

AGUST D TOUR D-DAY THE MOVIE

Did you miss Suga’s last world tour or want to relive the memories? This concert film has got you covered. The encore of his 2023 Agust D tour is coming to theaters this month. As an extra treat, the movie will also feature appearances from RM, Jimin, and Jungkook. You can catch this in cinemas during its limited run from April 10-13. 

FALLOUT

The Fallout series becomes the latest video game franchise to get the live-action treatment. The series takes the action to Los Angeles, a first for the franchise, and follows an underground vault dweller who ascends to a post-apocalyptic LA and discovers that it’s unlike anything she’d imagined. Fallout makes its debut on Prime Video this April 11. 

YOLO

YOLO follows Le Ying, an unemployed woman in her 30s who still lives with her parents until one day, she meets a boxing coach who just may change her life. The Chinese feel-good box office hit arrives in the Philippines this April 17. 

ABIGAIL

A simple plan to kidnap a young girl to make millions. What could possibly go wrong? After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl. You can see this kidnapping from hell in your local cinema beginning April 17. 

UNDER PARALLEL SKIES

Win Metawin and Janella Salvador make their highly anticipated big-screen debut in this film about a Thai bachelor named Parin (Metawin) who travels to Hong Kong in search of his missing mother. He encounters a Filipino hotelier named Iris (Salvador) who helps him navigate love, heartbreak, and healing in the foreign city amid their differences in culture and identity. It screens in local cinemas this April 17. 

REBEL MOON – PART TWO: THE SCAVENGER

If you felt the first part of Rebel Moon focused too much on set-up, then you may be getting the payoff you’re looking for in the sequel. The rebel warriors gear up for battle against the ruthless forces of the Motherworld as unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge — and legends are made. See how it ends when it lands on Netflix on April 19. 

CHALLENGERS

From Luca Guadagnino, Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy-turned-coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win? Regardless of what she chooses, we know we’re winning at the cinemas when it screens locally this April 24. 

AESPA WORLD TOUR IN CINEMAS

What’s a world tour without a concert film, right? The movie captures aespa’s concert at London’s O2 Arena, their first-ever U.K. show, and the penultimate stop of their Synk: Hyper Line tour last year. It also highlights individual performances by each member, with exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews to boot. Its limited run goes from April 24-27. 

DEAD BOY DETECTIVES

Another year, another Netflix adaptation of a Neil Gaiman work. The show follows Dead Boy Detectives Charles Rowland and Edwin Payne as they solve mysteries dealing with all things supernatural. You can catch this on the streaming service beginning April 25. 

SECRET INGREDIENT

While a K-drama starring Julia Barretto, Sang Heon Lee, and Nicholas Saputra about cooking might seem like something you’d get from an AI generator, that’s actually happening in this regional series. In this show, viewers will follow the story of Maya and Hajoon as they navigate the world of fine dining that takes them on the journey of life—finding love, reaching ambitions, and discovering culinary excellence. It drops on Viu Philippines this April 30.

MMFF MOVIES

Consider this your sign to watch or rewatch the MMFF 2023 movies with a handful of them making their streaming debut this month. Becky & Badette is coming to Netflix on April 4, GomBurZa is bringing the history on April 9, Kampon makes its Netflix debut on April 18, and Firefly is coming to Prime Video on April 30.
