Ah, it’s that time of year again. People from over the world are always tuned into the momentous event that is the Met Gala, and for plenty of good reasons. This year, in a grand celebration of art and fashion—arguably the biggest fashion event of the year—the annual fundraising gala honors the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibit Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

With the dress code theme being Garden of Time, we saw plenty of stunning nature-inspired, outlandish interpretations of the theme, and also some that had us going “oh…”. Regardless, everyone tuned in put on their yapper hats and talked about everything from Stray Kids being the first K-pop group to make an appearance at the Met Gala to gala co-chair Zendaya’s double serve, Mona Patel’s butterfly ensemble to Katy Perry’s non-appearance, and more.

For those of us who don’t have $75,000 to spare for attendance the Met Gala (among other things that we don’t have in order to be there), we’ve got free rein to do what we do best: take to social media and air out our thoughts and opinions. That part of the celebration is free of charge, and quite enjoyable. In this digital age, no Met Gala has been safe from the jokes, the memes, and the laughs—no matter how grand the theme or gorgeous the outfits.
