It honestly felt like it was just yesterday we first met the queens of Drag Race Philippines season 3. But here we are at the end of the season in what many (including us) say is the best Drag Race PH season yet, culminating in Maxie taking home the crown as the Philippines’ next drag superstar. It was a highkey iconic season, and among the many moments season 3 gave us was Maxie and Angel’s relationship.
Heading into the show, the Galang sisters already had fans talking given Maxie’s reputation and her and Angel being sisters IRL. And they lived up to the hype as their sibling dynamic proved to be one of the best parts of the season. They did that and reminded us of the power of a healthy and affectionate sibling relationship. Below, see some of the wholesome moments and life lessons we took from Maxie and Angel.
YOUR SIBLING WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU

Despite the high-stakes pressure of the competition, Maxie and Angel did not let that get in the way of their bond. Throughout the entire run of the show, the two were there for each other as that ride-or-die sister any sibling would be proud to have. They had each other’s backs, like when Angel was eliminated early in the season and Maxie went to comfort her before Mama Pao saved our fave Trans Nene. Maxie and Angel shared quite a few emotional moments and were each other’s rock, which speaks to how impactful having a healthy sibling relationship can be on your growth and well-being.
YOU CAN STILL SHINE ON YOUR OWN
favoritism allegations, haters left and right since ep 6, accused of riding on maxie’s coattails, kyle echarri breakup, hrt stores getting banned on shopee, she had once chance pic.twitter.com/k4uDh7djKQ

Some of us have been through that phase of resenting our sibling because of their success and feeling as if we can’t escape their shadow. But it is possible if you hone and believe in what you have—case in point: Maxie and Angel. If people thought Angel would just ride on Maxie’s coattails, she proved them wrong by showing that she was her own drag queen who delivered the camp, humor, talent, and laro behavior. Angel’s Top 4 placement speaks for itself. The Galang sisters shined on their own, showing that your life is not solely tied to who your siblings are.
OLDER SIBLINGS MAKE FOR A GREAT SUPPORT SYSTEM

Older brothers and sisters know the feeling of being that adult figure watching over your younger siblings. As as the “kuya sa pamilya”, Maxie knows this, too. She left her ego in Manila and was more than willing to help Angel when she could, as seen when Angel was going through it during her initial elimination as Maxie gave her advice like the best kuya that she is.
During the finale lipsync, Maxie even brought Angel onto the stage and crowned her to symbolize that her Drag Race journey is more than just about herself but to also help uplift other drag artists like her sister. And let’s not forget when Maxie confronted J Quinn about what she said about Angel. Imagine having a supportive kuya like Maxie in our lives. We’d be unstoppable.

One thing about siblings who have a good bond with each other, they aren’t afraid to open up during the good and bad moments. Maxie and Angel are what happens when siblings genuinely care for each other and feel comfortable showing affection and emotion. Whenever Maxie won a Maxi challenge, Angel was right there cheering her sister on, with Maxie giving that same energy back whenever Angel got her Ws. And when it looked like Angel would land in the bottom, you can bet Maxie was not far behind with words of encouragement. So, take it from Maxie and Angel, and don’t be afraid to rely on your siblings for emotional support.
THE POWER OF SUPPORTIVE PARENTS

We been knew one of the secret ingredients to Maxie and Angel being the icons that they are are their supportive parents who love and encourage their children to do and be what they want. But it was during the makeover challenge when Maxie and Angel reunited with their mom and dad that we got to appreciate parents who don’t judge or shun their kids for being “different” and instead support them in how they identify and express. It almost sheds a tear in the eye with how Maxie and Angel soar as they do with a loving family beside them. Feeling loved and supported by your parents does have an impact. That’s family goals fr. May we all have parents who don’t inhibit us from reaching our dreams.
