Do you ever feel like once you graduate school, you’re just thrown out there in the “real world” not knowing what to do? So many questions and doubts seemingly have no answers. Well, we’ve been there, which is why the NYLON Manila Career Fair was created to give students and soon-to-be fresh graduates a crash course on careers that isn’t always taught in schools or easily found on the internet.

For this year’s edition, the second stop was Enderun Colleges, where Titans came through for a day of career preparation and insights. Whether still a few years away from getting their degree or graduating seniors, the Enderun student body was ready to learn last May 7. Here’s what went down on McKinley Hill.

OUR ENDERUN DEBUT

ENDERUN CAREER FAIR 1

It may have been a hot, sunny day, but that didn’t stop students in their school uniforms from showing up and experiencing the different booths. Together with our school partners, the Enderun Career Services Office and the Enderun Junior Marketing Association, we took over two buildings for the Career Fair. Over in the Hotel Administration Building, students got their punch cards at the registration booth, which unlocked a handful of activities to enjoy.

At the Solasta booth, students made their own custom jewelry that fit the vibe whether for a day on campus or the first day at the office. This&That had attendees customizing their own bag tags, charms, and other trinkets at their booth that radiated strong anik-anik energy.

Not far over was the Cetaphil and Benzac booth which was the go-to stop for students for dealing with all things acne and skincare. They even brought a dermatologist on campus for free one-on-one consultations, because taking care of the face card shouldn’t be neglected during your working era. Students also snapped pics at the photobooth provided by Specc Studios that came with Career Fair-branded effects to customize their photo strips.

Over at the ground floor of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship was the AGCPHC HR booth where students not only took home free magazines but also shared their data with HR representatives for potential internships and full-time positions in the company. Ok job hunt made convenient.

Right beside that was the MyZine Booth where we were on hand to talk to students about our MyZine print and binder and give away free copies to those who took the MyZine quiz. When we tell you the place was packed, it was packed, with dozens of students crowding the hallways. It’s no wonder we had four spillover rooms for the overflow crowd who couldn’t fit into the main venue at the HA 202 classroom.

CAREER FAIR, BUT MAKE IT GEN Z

ENDERUN CAREER FAIR 10

Once the students settled down, it was time to begin the day’s program, which was hosted by Gen Z actress and 2nd-year Enderun student Karina Bautista. Balancing school, showbiz, and hosting duties? We love to see it. The first talk of the day was courtesy of Gastronome France, who shared their gastronomy opportunities and internships in France. We’re talking 3-6 month paid internships in France that we lowkey wouldn’t mind doing. Oh, and they also revealed that they were giving away a free 3-month internship to one Enderun student. Yes, please.

After that was a talk straight from the recruiter side as Cherelene Enriquez, a Human Resources practitioner and CEO of Enriche Management Consultancy Services, gave students a crash course on how to bag the first job like a pro. For her, it all starts with who you are as a person, not necessarily what experiences are written on your resume. Employers mainly look at character, culture fit, competence, career plan, and communication skills, so if you fit the bill, there’s a good chance you’re getting the job. “We hire for attitude, we train for skills,” she stated.

Other useful tips Cherelene shared include preparing a resume that’s precise, and personalized, and made with purpose. Keep it simple and specific, and it helps to ask your job interviewer questions after the interview.

The next masterclass came from career consultant, Harrison Assessments certified coach, trained and certified by the International Positive Education Network, Expressive Arts facilitator in training, author, and teacher Isa Garcia on dealing with that fork in the road on what you want to do in your life (spoiler alert: it’s not real). She shared with students that despite the pressure to make the “right choice”, that is not the only choice to be made.

Life is not an A or B path like a video game, but an ever-branching road that you are allowed to explore. The key here is self-awareness in realizing that you actually have control over what your life looks like after graduation. As she put it, “You have agency. You are the person writing your own story.”

Content creator Raine Antonio then shared her skincare story in a talk courtesy of Cetaphil and Benzac. We all experience skincare troubles, and Raine made it a point that we can all get through it, and, more importantly, develop habits to keep the face card on lock that also reflect self-confidence. See, being consistent with your skincare routine can actually help get you a job.

ENDERUN CAREER FAIR 14

By the halfway point of the program, NYLON Manila’s Senior Brand Associate Bianca Lao took the mic as she tested Enderun students’ knowledge of NYLON Manila, the professional world, and their school in an energetic game of Kahoot! with prizes ranging from a Sunnies Flask, Romand gift bags, Cetaphil products, and more. Afterward, certified life & career coach, certified in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and motivational speaker on the Growth Mindset and Resilience Kai Soriano took the stage for the fourth masterclass, which was about developing the right mindset for work.

Using her multiple life experiences as an example, such as working in a company that brought a handful of international alcohol brands to the Philippines, Kai pointed out how growth is possible once you shift your perspective on things. She didn’t think her career journey would go the way it had, but once she shifted her mindset and perspective on what the opportunities could teach her, that’s when things started to click. “The present is just part of your joinery. Learn as you go,” Kai advised. So keep it positive, and while it is ok to feel nerves, head into your working era knowing that opportunities are out there for you.

The fifth and final talk of the Enderun stop of the NYLON Manila Career Fair came from career counselor and Director of Academic and Student Affairs (SoFa) Mads Constantino who delved into whether or not salary should define your success. While some might think that the number of zeroes on your paycheck is where it’s at, for Mads, it’s all about your value and what you’re bringing to the table.

Your salary is not a direct reflection of your self-worth as an individual, but it is reflective of how you’re developing in your career. At the end of the day, it’s all about value that starts from your personal fulfillment. As Mads noted, “You have the right to define your metric for success.”

TO JOB HUNT Ws

ENDERUN CAREER FAIR 19

Before the program ended, Karina invited all the speakers back on stage for an insightful Q&A session with the students. Afterward, they received a token of gratitude from NYLON Manila while registered attendees took home a NYLON Manila tote filled with goodies. And just like that, leg two of the NYLON Manila Career Fair was over.

ENDERUN CAREER FAIR 20

As our first time at Enderun, it was a pleasure getting to meet the students, and we hope Titans took home invaluable lessons they can apply once they start their careers, not to mention the cool free loot. For the last stop of the NYLON Manila Career Fair 2025, we’re headed to Taft and coming to the College of Saint Benilde on May 16. See you there!

Thank you to our sponsors Cetaphil and Benzac, and our brand partners Solasta Jewelry, Sunnies Face, Romand, This&That, and Specc Studios.
