All the girls were girling! 💖

Our recent MyZine Meet-Up with our beauty besties and guests was an afternoon of creativity, friendship, and all things girlhood.

Singers like Gracie Abrams, Ellie Goulding, Fifth Harmony, and Hannah Ellis were right—there really is nothing like friendship and girlhood. The freedom, the growth, the bonds—there’s nothing like it. So in honor of a picture of girlhood that involves friendship, inspiration, encouragement, creativity, and being unapologetically yourself, and our February cover, we invited people to celebrate with a NYLON Manila MyZine Meet-Up.

A MyZine Meet-Up is a NYLON Manila event where young people—from creators to students to creatives to advocates—come together to decorate their MyZine binders and have some snacks and drinks while bonding and celebrating our newest MyZine issue pack. For our fourth MyZine Meet-Up last February 28, ending the month of love and welcoming Women’s Month, we made it all about Girlhood—which is also the theme of our most recent cover, featuring beauty content creators and IRL besties Joce Morales, Joize Frilles, Iya Omaña, and Jasmin Lao!

MYZINE MEET-UP

TL;DR, we made a mess—but it was a beautiful mess, because everyone went home happy, whether it’s because they met their favorite creators or simply spent a warm, sunny afternoon hanging out with friends and letting their creativity shine. Not to give everyone who didn’t attend major FOMO, but here’s what went down at our most recent NYLON Manila MyZine Meet-Up.

CELEBRATING GIRLHOOD

MYZINE MEET-UP

Of course, a big part of the MyZine Meet-Up is about celebrating the young women on our February cover, who are true friends in and beyond the industry of beauty content creation. Joce, Joize, Iya, and Jasmin joined us as one of the highlights of the event—sort of a meet-and-greet where our guests, students, aspiring or current creators, advocates, and more, got to meet the inspiring young women they’ve most likely only seen on their screens.

NO LIMITS TO CREATIVITY

MYZINE MEET-UP

It’s a MyZine Meet-Up for a reason! Everyone channeled their inner Pinterest girlies as they made moodboards right on the front or inside of their MyZine binders, cutting out photos and putting our exclusive MyZine stickers from Dos Tres and LAPAT. They designed their binders according to their own themes—girlhood, friendship, dreams, personal style, and more. Our guests also filled out the worksheets inside the MyZine Girlhood Pack, including the Friendship Folio page and the Barkada Superlatives game.

The moodboards and MyZines weren’t their only chance to unleash their creativity! This & That PH set up their own little booth, where guests can personalize their own bag tags (that can also be attached to the MyZine binder!). Each guest got the chance to use embroidered letters and patches to make their custom bag tags and watch as This & That PH pressed and packed them so they’re ready to be used.

NEWFOUND (AND REINVIGORATED) FRIENDSHIPS

MYZINE MEET-UP

Whether our guests came as a group of besties or alone, they all left with new friends—some of which included our cover girls and the content creators they follow. Sharing tables, snacks, craft items, and interests allowed them to form some new bonds and meet really cool people. They complimented each other’s MyZine binders, exchanged Instagram accounts, worked together during the games, and chatted all about who they are and what they do. Even if they came to the Meet-Up alone, every single one left with a newfound friend. And that’s on girlhood.

FRIENDLY COMPETITION

We also hosted a few rounds of Guess The Cover Star and Guess The Song and Artist, and each table of guests got to bond over their competitiveness. Winners also got first dibs on our beauty besties’ haul of prizes—makeup and skincare!

MYZINE MEET-UP

Our cover girls also chose their favorite MyZine binder after everyone got a chance to decorate theirs, choosing based on the meaning behind each one and the beauty of their execution. It was tough, they admitted, because everyone’s truly was a fantastic representation of who they were and what they believed in, so each one was truly special.

SWEET TREATS GALORE

MYZINE MEET-UP

We had our own café NYLON Manila at the Meet-Up! With iced teas, coffee, and flaky chocolate croissants from Gotbaked and classic glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme, our guests had their fair share of sweet treats and drinks they snacked and sipped on while decorating their MyZine and chatting with their friends (including our beauty besties). You really can’t go wrong with an afternoon of friends, fun, and delicious treats with the girlies.
