The music industry never sleeps. The past week alone saw Billie Eilish hold her long-awaited concert in Manila, which saw Niana Guerrero react as emotionally as you’d expect. RUN BTS made it’s glorious comeback while Taylor Swift might just become a future Oscar nominee now that the All Too Well short film is eligible for an Oscar. And that’s on top of the fact that she originally wanted to be in Twilight: New Moon. BGYO revealed their official lightstick while SB19 began ticket selling for their WYAT kickoff show and as expected, tickets flew by in minutes.

Let’s also not forget how we are always getting daily drops of new tracks that might just become our next favorite bop. You can never be too prepared when your friends ask you for some fresh finds and tracks, which is why we rounded up some of the best new releases of the week that you may want to make some space for.

PINK VENOM – BLACKPINK

Congratulations, you have survived the drought as BLACKPINK has finally made their comeback with the release of Pink Venom. Even after all this time, the BP magic is still there as seen in the hard-hitting beat, the Jenlisa rap, and the high quality music video. They make pink venom sound so dangerous yet addicting at the same time. And to think, this is just the start of their Born Pink era.

29 – DEMI LOVATO

Demi Lovato is out with a new album this week with HOLY FVCK. The 16-track album sees Demi go full rock as they not only deliver jamming bops, but uses the album to also process their many traumas. For example, 29 has Demi reflect on how they met their now ex at just 17 while he was 29. Now that Demi is actually 29, they see that it was more of a dream for him than it was for them. HOLY FVCK is a rock album with a purpose.

FOREVER ONLY – JAEHYUN

NCT 127 is set to be pretty busy in the coming month with their Manila concert in September 4 and the release of their new album a few weeks later. But before all that happens, lets first enjoy Jaehyun’s new solo song, Forever Only. His track for SM Station’s NCT Lab, Forever Only is pretty sad lyrically as Jaehyun sings about missing that special someone. But it’s offset by the fun R&B beat that helps bring to life Jaehyun’s sensual vocals.

PATULOY LANG ANG LIPAD – BGYO

The long-awaited Darna TV series has finally begun airing. And it’s safe to say that it’s been living up to the hype so far. And helping add to the epicness of the series is that it’s theme song is sung by none other than BGYO. Entitled Patuloy Lang Ang Lapid, the pop-rock track is a confidence booster that sets the mood for the coming episode.

WISH YOU WERE HERE – LUKAS GRAHAM AND KHALID

What happens when you combine two exceptional vocalists like Lukas Graham and Khalid in one song? You get their collab, Wish You Were Here. Their voices compliment and contrast each other well as they sing about wanting to spend more time with that special someone.

NARARARARAMDAMAN – BLASTER

IV of Spades member Blaster Silonga is back with new music with the release of his latest track, Nararararamdaman. The Tagalog single is signature Blaster with its fun, quirky, and playful sound.

LOBBY – ANITTA AND MISSY ELLIOT

Anitta and Missy Elliot was a duo we never thought we needed, but absolutely love. The Latin American superstar and rap icon join forces for Lobby, a fun pop funk number about spending intimate time with your lover. This is what happens when you combine the best of North and South America.

CAN’T GET ENOUGH – JASON DHAKAL

While two years may seem like a long period, that was more than enough time for Jason Dhakal to get into his musical groove with the release of his new single, Can’t Get Enough. Made during the height of quarantine, the track starts off slow before transitioning into an artistic funk complete with live instruments. Completing the song is its heartfelt message of unapologetic queer love.

MAKE YOU SAY – ZEDD, MAREN MORRIS, AND BEAUZ

Zedd and Maren Morris made a shopping mall classic when they dropped The Middle in 2018. And this 2022, the duo are back again for their latest collab, Make You Say. Their chemistry is still there with Maren’s strong voice in particular being a standout from the track.

TAKBO – ANY NAME’S OKAY

Any Name’s Okay recently dropped their second EP, Leaving Home, and it’s all about that relatable feeling of navigating the growing pains of adulthood. The 6-track EP digs deeper into the journey of adulthood and embracing the uncertainty that comes with the process. The focus track, Takbo, tackles themes of running away from burnout and hustle and breaking free from the unhealthy restraints that lead to overworking and hustle culture.

MIND GAMES – MILLI AND JACKSON WANG

Over the past few months, Jackson and rising Thai rapper MILLI have been becoming fast friends. So really, it was only a matter of time before we saw a song collab from them. But instead of giving us a fire rap track, they go the other direction with Mind Games, a sensual R&B number that lets their singing voices shine. And it works well for them as they sing about wanting to keep things straight with their partner.

BEST MISTAKE – TIMMY ALBERT

Prepare the tissues because Timmy Albert is getting emotional with his new song, Best Mistake. The piano-driven ballad sees the OPM musician reflect on a love lost and the pain of trying to move on.

WHISPER – THE BOYZ

For The Boyz’s first Korean comeback of 2022, the boy group gives us sensual yet fun pop tunes with WHISPER, the title track of their BE AWARE mini album. It’s a catchy song that straddles well between youthful pop energy and a more mature vibe.

BYE – RAVI AND WHEE IN

RAVI and Whee In have no time for one-sided love with their collab, BYE. The pop/R&B number sees the two musicians talk about being in an unhealthy relationship as they realize that it’s time to move on to someone better. Their voices complement each other well with the contrast between RAVI’s deeper tone with Whee In’s higher register.

PANALANGIN – KYLINE ALCANTARA AND MAVY LEGASPI

A love team that makes music together, stays together. Mavy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara bring their love team energy into their cover of the classic OPM love song, Panalangin, and they honestly sound great together.

PLAYING TRICKS – THUY

Rising R&B singer-songwriter thuy returns with a vulnerable new track called playing tricks. In her new track, thuy wears her heart on her sleeve as she writes about falling in love again after experiencing heartbreak in the past. It’s a song that touches on how the mind can play tricks on your heart, but in the end of the day, you know what’s best for you.
